The Hippopotamus
By Bill
What’s big, brownish gray and has huge tusks? The hippopotamus! The hippo lives in rivers and lakes in Africa. Hippos feed on the plants in and by the river they live in.
Young hippos are prey for lions and crocs. But adults
protect there young by using their tusk-like teeth. The
first Africans thought the hippo was a monster. The
hippo is even related to pigs and weighs 8,000 pounds!
The hippopotamus is a great animal!
