Scott Foresman Reading series is used in kindergarten to help teachers to implement a balanced literacy program.  Teachers are using a comprehensive, balanced approach that includes a strong literature, language and comprehension program with a balance of oral and written language, together with an organized, explicit skills program that includes phonemic awareness, phonics and decoding skills.
  Emergent and early readers read all kinds of print labels, posters, signs and books.
 

 Everyday Math  is a developmentally appropriate program that provides an environment in which children work and learn about mathematics on their own level in a challenging atmosphere.  The mathematics program places emphasis on all areas of child development (social, emotional, physical and cognitive) in order for children to achieve success.
  The developmentally appropriate activities are designed so the emphasis is on the process of learning mathematical concepts rather than quick answers.
